A MACHYNLLETH litter-pick has seen volunteers collect 45 bags of rubbish.

The litter-pick, organised by Keep Wales Tidy and Machynlleth’s Labour Party branch, took place on Saturday with a group of 15 volunteers taking part, including Labour town councillors Simon Morpeth and Andy Tack, county and town councillor Michael Williams and Machynlleth Rotary Club member Roger Seagrove.

The event was led by Rachel Palmer of Keep Wales Tidy, with help from Machynlleth resident Jacqueline Whiteley.

The councillors who took part in the event said: “We were pleased to see the turnout for the litter pick on a very sunny and warm Saturday morning in Machynlleth.

“In total 45 bags of litter were collected on the morning.

“Thanks also to the local Labour Party and Rachel of Keep Wales Tidy for the organisation of the litter-pick.”

Jacqueline added: “As proud Machynlleth residents, we want to welcome the hordes of visitors soon to be descending on our town and show them that we want it to be litter-free.”
