Two of Gwynedd’s top tourism attractions have made it to the final stages of a competition to find the best place in the UK to watch the sun set.

Photographs of Snowdon and Portmeirion have been chosen for the final 16, and voting is now open to the public to choose the UK’s top sunset spot. When holidaycottages.co.uk launched its social media competition, they received more than 750 entries.

“With so many stunning shots from up and down the country, the team have decided to put the top 16 spots to the public to decide which will be crowned the ultimate place to see the day’s end,” a spokesperson said.

Neil Thomas’ picture of Portmeirion and Emma C Marshall’s Snowdon Summit photographs will go up against images from Southport, Watergate Bay, Blencathra, Edinburgh, Morte Point, Brixham, Ilkley, Macclesfield Forest, Clachtoll Beach, Watermouth, London, Sandwood Bay, Sandbanks and Sturminster Marshall.

Voting is now open across holidaycottages.co.uk’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram channels. Keep your eyes peeled for these mesmerising images as they battle against each other in the quarter finals, semi-finals and ultimate showdown.
