Concerns have been raised that dogs may be in danger after what could be a dangerous substance washed up on a north Ceredigion beach.
Natural Resources Wales said there were reports of lumps of white material on the beach at Ynyslas that may be palm oil.
The upper beach was searched, which turned up one large lump of material that was bagged and sent for analysis.
No further material was found during a detailed search.
A Natural Resources Wales spokesperson told the Cambrian News: “A lump of what might be palm oil has been sent for analysis and we’re waiting for verification.
“Palm oil is dangerous to dogs.”
Officials recommended that dog walkers keep their pets on a lead to prevent them investigating and ingesting any possible deposits which could be harmful.
Anyone who encounters any deposits similar to that pictured on Ynyslas beach is asked to contact [email protected].
