Madam,

I am delighted that Vodafone has received planning permission to erect a new mast at Talybont, in my Dyffryn Ardudwy ward.

I have been campaigning for years for a better mobile phone signal for the area. We get our signal from a mast at Pwllheli and on busy weekends, with so many visitors using their iPads and mobile phones, the signal from that mast is weaker.

We on the Meirionnydd coast are furthest away from the Pwllheli mast and lose our signal because of the distance.

The new mast, when up and running, will be beneficial to locals, visitors and businesses, and bring this area up to the mobile phone standard that others in urban areas have had for years.

I understand that EE is also proposing to erect a mast for the emergency services in Dyffryn Ardudwy.

As the mast is mainly for the emergency services then restrictions will not be as stringent.
