A PORTHMADOG mum-to-be has changed her life after losing almost two stone in less than a year and winning numerous awards for her efforts along the way.
Kristy Faulkner said she needed to change her eating habits when she realised her clothing had become too tight and taking a photo would result in having to stand in certain positions to make her look slimmer, breathing in and hiding her ‘fat bits’.
The 26-year-old decided to join Slimming World in October 2014, aiming to lose two-and-a-half stone to reach her target weight.
Earlier this year she had managed to lose one and a half stone and was crowned Miss Slinky 2014, as well as other awards, in her group.
The administrative assistant said the weight loss has changed her life and made her feel healthier. She now spends time looking into recipes and new ideas to boost her weight loss.
She said: “It has really changed my life. I can still enjoy the naughty treats by using alternatives and no food is forbidden.
“The way I now eat has changed forever.”
Kristy and her fiancé, Dave, are expecting their first child together early next year, and she is proud to reveal she has managed to stick to her new healthy eating throughout her pregnancy.
She added: “Sticking to a healthy diet not only is beneficial to me but also my unborn son.
“Slimming World works together with the Royal College of Midwives to help women successfully manage their weight before, during and after pregnancy really does make it more rewarding.”
Kristy will not only be becoming a mother, but she has also got her wedding booked for September 2016, and she is determined to hit her target weight for her big day.
The keen slimmer hopes to inspire others to turn to healthy eating now she has taken on the role of consultant at her slimming group.
She said: “Members of the slimming group often ask me for advice or sometimes need a helping hand and I help them the best I possibly can.
“When the opportunity came up to become a consultant I started to think how many more people could I help? Could I really be an inspiration?
“I’m really excited to have this opportunity to be a consultant and help new members reach their own personal goals.”
Kristy runs the morning group held at the English Presbyterian Church on Ala Road in Pwllheli on Saturday mornings. The group will re-launch on 14 November at 9.30am.
