Madam,

I see from the Cambrian News that - ironically - Natural Resources Wales is about to build a series of 25 “leaky dams” on the Merin river above Devil’s Bridge.

Whatever did happen to the plan to re-introduce beavers into this area? What led to NRW and the Countryside Council for Wales turning down the proposal? Perhaps they would care to tell us?

Because if beavers had been released in the Merin as was hoped, these once-native mammals would have built the leaky dams for us, free of charge, with all the environmental benefits that would have resulted.
