Madam,

Re: State of grounds at Aberystwyth Town Cemetery.

For some years now I have had to cut the grass around my husband’s resting place in the above cemetery, which at times grows knee high and requires cutting both to gain access to the head stone and to keep it looking tidy.

As I am a lady in my 70s I find cutting the grass with hand shears is hard work and very difficult for me.

There always seems to be broken bottles, glasses and rubbish being left on the grave stones and the gates are always left open so is used as a public footpath.

This isn’t a new problem. It has been going on for a good number of years now and seems to be getting worse.

The question I would ask, when looking at the shrubs and grassed areas of the new council offices and the neat and tidy well-cared-for look of other cemeteries in the local area, is why has Aberystwyth Town Cemetery been allowed to become to neglected and untidy?

Yours etc
