AT THE Llanwenog WI meeting on Thursday, 4 February, thanks were given to Liz for compiling the centenary scrapbook. After the usual business was concluded, members had an interesting talk by Tim Newbury, head gardener at Llanerchaeron. His talk consisted of projected photos of the gardens from 1989 when the National Trust first took over the property to present day.

Did you know that the loofah is not only found in the sea, but is also a plant?

Photos taken throughout the year showed that Llanerchaeron is well worth a visit any time. A donation was given to Tim towards the maintenance of the garden with many thanks from the members.

The WI joined more than 15 million people and hundreds of organisations in turning Valentine’s Day green. Members were asked to make their own green heart for the competition, which was judged by Tim. By making, wearing and sharing green hearts, we can help spread the message to protect the world we love.

If anyone would like to join us at our meetings please speak to Carol Denham our president on 01570 480446.
