BALA bounced back from their defeat at Cobra to register a solid win over close rivals Caernarfon, and will be keen to consolidate their top three position in Division One North this season.

Bala’s forwards held the upper hand from the start, dominating the scrum and carrying well, whilst their backs were also dangerous with the ball.

After a quarter of an hour, the home pressure paid off as Endaf Jones crashed over for an unconverted try, and although Caernarfon responded positively, Bala held a 5-0 lead at the break.

Bala’s forward stepped up again in the second half and the visitors’ defence conceded a penalty try, which Owain Aled converted to earn the hosts a 12-0 advantage.

Deteriorating conditions made it difficult to handle the ball, and Caernarfon replied with a converted try, after good work by their No 8, to set up a nervous last 10 minutes, with score at 12-7.

Bala, however, kept the ball among the forwards and after absorbing Caernarfon’s pressure, they found the gap for Clwyd Edwards to score and seal a hard earned 17-7 triumph.
