A DAY of celebrations is planned at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s Lampeter campus on Wednesday to mark the 150th anniversary since the Rev Professor Rowland Williams, vice-principal at St David’s College Lampeter, introduced the game of rugby to Wales.

The programme kicks off with a match between UWTSD Women and Lampeter Town RFC Women at 1pm.

The game will be followed by the launch of ‘The Fighting Parsons: The role of St David’s College Lampeter in the development of rugby in Wales’, by Selwyn Walters on the Lampeter Town RFC balcony at 2.15pm.

A match between UWTSD and Welsh Academicals is due to kick off at 3pm.

Then, from 5pm until 6pm, there will be an opportunity to view an exhibition of rugby at the Roderic Bowen Library on the UWTSD Lampeter campus.

The day will conclude with a dinner in the Lloyd Thomas Refectory at 7pm.
