BIG-hearted Tesco customers donated more than 1,500 kilos of non-perishable food during the seventh National Neighbourhood Food collection to help keep Cardigan Foodbank going.

The three-day event was run in conjunction with Tesco and the foodbank in Cardigan.

Foodbank manager Phil Buckman said: “We are so grateful to Tesco for allowing us to hold this event and we are just so amazed at the generosity of the shoppers from across the region.

“Without the two major three-day collections in July and December it would be very difficult for us to survive and therefore we would not be able to help those who find themselves in crisis and in need of an emergency food parcel.

“We really do need to thank the Tesco staff who got involved and really helped to make the event a great success with special thanks to Stacey Price and Glesni Roberts.

“In addition to the 1,500 kilos of food, over £700 was also collected which will go towards keeping the foodbank shelves topped up over the lean months.”

Cardigan Foodbank is part of of the national network of foodbanks overseen by Trussell Trust.
