OVER 200 people took part in a special vigil in Porthmadog on Thursday to remember the victims of the Manchester terrorist attack last week.
Approximately 250 attended a vigil in Porthmadog last Thursday to pay tribute to those who were killed or injured at the Manchester Arena blast a few days prior.
The event, which raised over £400 for the ‘We Love Manchester’ appeal run by the Red Cross, was organised and attended by various faith leaders, councillors, emergency service workers, local business people and residents, who all paid their respects.
The vigil, which was held in the town’s harbour, was happened upon by visitors from Manchester who were said to be “really emotional and grateful” for the show of support from a north Wales community.
Gwynedd councillor Nia Jeffreys, one of the event’s key organisers, said: “The tragic and horrific events in Manchester have touched us all.
“In sad times we need our family, friends, neighbours and community.
“It was very moving to see Porthmadog people come together to stand in solidarity with Manchester. There is no ‘them and us’ - we are united against hate.”
