COUNCILLORS have approved a plan to build 48 homes on Primrose Hill in Llanbadarn despite strong objections over fears of flooding and traffic congestion.
Although officers’ recommendation was to approve the development in principle, local members raised significant reasons why it should not go ahead, especially after Boxing Day, when heavy rain caused flash floods at the bottom of the hill.
A decision to approve or refuse planning permission was deferred at last month’s planning committee meeting to allow a site inspection panel to visit the site and present its findings to committee last week.
Although not a member of the planning committee, county councillor for Llanbadarn Fawr, Gareth Davies was present to voice his objections.
Cllr Davies said: “The officer says the site meeting was held to look at traffic in the area, but the meeting was held on 18 December when there were no Coleg Ceredigion students around.
“It was a waste of time to have it on that date when you couldn’t see what the traffic was like.
