A 50-YEAR-OLD landmark at Bryn Square, Cenarth, has been damaged to the point of no return.
The well-known, red traditional telephone kiosk was demolished sometime on 12 October and Dyfed-Powys Police are asking for any witnesses or information regarding the incident.
Pc Kelly Williams said: “We are appealing for people to come forward regarding the damage that has been caused to the telephone kiosk in Bryn Square.
“It appears to have been hit by a car sometime overnight on Wednesday, 12 October.
“The damage that has been caused to this 50-year-old landmark is non-repairable and whoever hit it did not stop nor have they reported the incident to the police.
Local historian Ken Jones says that losing the kiosk is a huge loss.
He said: “We are losing our heritage and there aren’t many kiosks like this one left.
“We did have one near Cawdor Hall, but that was removed during its re-build.
“It’s such a shame they are being damaged. The one at Bryn Square was a real landmark, was clearly visible to all and will be sorely missed.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC Williams at the Newcastle Emlyn Police Station.
