AN ABERYSTWYTH man is lucky to be alive after being stabbed while walking home after a friend’s birthday celebrations.

Lorry driver Stephen Jackson, 26, thought at first he had been punched when he got into an altercation with three men in Sutton Coldfield in the West Midlands.

But Stephen, who went to Penglais School before managing his dad’s taxi firm, Z Cars, had in fact been stabbed and was later rushed to hospital for a three-inch-deep knife wound in his back.

Police have still not been able to arrest anyone for the attack which happened in the early hours of Sunday, 20 December, and have appealed for witnesses.

Stephen, who moved to Erdington in Birmingham about two and a half years ago, said: “Three lads approached me and one of them shouldered me and pushed me back, as the other two laughed.

“I asked them what their problem was and one pushed me with both hands to my chest, causing me to stumble back towards another one of the lads.

“As I reached to feel, I then realised that I had in fact been stabbed.”
