A BALA man who broke his pregnant girlfriend’s cheekbone and cracked her eye-socket on Christmas Day has been jailed for two years.
Dean Thomas, 29, of High Street, Bala, admitted grievous bodily harm and breach of a criminal behaviour order.
Judge Philip Harris-Jenkins told him at Caernarfon Crown Court: “This was a brutal attack without provocation. It was carried out because you thought she was seeing somebody else. You were in drink at the time.”
Tiffany Williams suffered “horrendous-looking” injuries. Thomas had also been aggressive in the street, with a bat in hand, towards a bystander.
The judge added: ”You (Thomas) have previous convictions for violence including against another partner.”
Defence barrister Simon Killeen said his client was “full of remorse.”
He remarked: “He clearly has issues with alcohol. He’s determined to address them.”
Prosecutor Gareth Roberts described how Ms Williams had been attacked after opening her door to Thomas because the defendant said he had nowhere else to go.
