A MAN who carried out two vicious assaults months apart has been jailed.

Stephen Nesbitt, 35, was jailed for 19 months for attacking two men in Barmouth in separate attacks in 2016.

In the first incident in Barmouth, which occurred in May 2016, Nesbitt punched David Brookfield so hard that he suffered severe facial injuries and required hospital treatment.

In a separate attack, on 6 December, which took place outside the Royal Hotel in Barmouth, Nesbitt repeatedly punched a second man, Richard Fox, around the head.

Nesbitt, of Seaview Terrace, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm and two charges of assault for the first attack, and two assaults on the second man, and was jailed for 19 months at Caernarfon court last week.

District Inspector Gethin Jones said of the conviction: “Violent behaviour will not be tolerated in our communities but when it does occur we will find, arrest and prosecute the offenders and they will go to prison.

“I’d like to thank the victims for having the strength of character in ‘standing up’ to Nesbitt to ensure justice is served and I hope they, and the local community, feel some sense of justice and reassurance now he’s behind bars.

“We will continue to work with our communities to make north Wales a safer place and our message is a simple one, never resort to violence, think about the consequences and the impact it can have on the victim, their families and the community.”See this week's north editions for the full story, in shops and online on Thursday
