PEOPLE living in the Llanddewi Brefi and Llanfair Clydogau areas are appealing to Dyfed-Powys Police to ensure no more illegal raves are held in their area.
The calls come after around 2,000 people turned up for a three-day illegal rave last week which is being compared to the notorious mass countryside raves of the 1990s.
Dyfed-Powys Police say officers made arrests relating to alleged drug offences at the dance party near Llanddewi Brefi over the Bank Holiday weekend which has left locals furious.
“People here are trying to get something done about any future unauthorised, uncontrolled and ungovernable ‘raves’,” Llanfair Clydogau community councillor Alan Leech told the Cambrian News.
“We have had one on both the May bank holidays so far and this one ran for three days with the very loud music heard two miles away."
A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesperson said: “Dyfed-Powys Police were made aware of a large gathering at a remote location near Llanfair Clydogau area late on Saturday night, 28 May.
“Officers swiftly attended the scene, and liaised with concerned residents in the area.
“As the gathering was already on a very large scale when police were alerted to it, the sheer number of persons involved and the safety aspects surrounding breaking up the event meant that a decision was made to prioritise disrupting and stopping entry of any further vehicles and people."
