A Cader Idris camper had to be carried to safety by emergency services last week after being found unconscious in his tent.
At around 5.30pm on Thursday, 22 August, call-handlers from Aberdyfi Search and Rescue Team were alerted to concerns raised about the wellbeing of a man camping on Cader Idris.
The man, in his fifties and from the Manchester area, was found unconscious in his tent by a team of volunteers from the search and rescue team.
Because of his condition, the camper’s evacuation had to be assisted by a coastguard helicopter, but the team encountered problems when the cloud-base fell to a point where the helicopter could no longer be of assistance.
Instead, volunteers had to make the steep and arduous journey down Minffordd steps while carrying the man by stretcher to the bottom of the mountain, where he was handed over to a Welsh Ambulance Service crew for further assessment and transportation.
After hours of rescuing, everyone involved was safely off the mountain by 11.45pm.
