THE fire service has been left baffled after two cars mysteriously caught fire in a village doctors surgery car park near Aberystwyth.

Firefighters from Aberystwyth responded at 10.48am on Friday following reports of a car on fire at Llanilar Health Centre.

The fire crews found that one vehicle was alight, which subsequently set a second vehicle alight.

Firefighters used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. One car was “severely damaged” and the other was “partially affected” by smoke and fire.

A Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson added: “The cause of the fire was accidental, and at this time unknown.”

Fire crews left the incident at 11.52am.
