Passers-by were left stunned when a car left Aberystwyth’s North Promenade and ended up on the beach this afternoon.

Police were called to the incident just after 2pm, after a vehicle left the prom near the Marine Hotel.

The vehicle went over the sea wall and came to a stop on the beach below.

It is believed the driver was uninjured and taken to Aberystwyth Police Station.

The car ended up a few feet from the sea wall, but still upright.

A flatbed truck with a crane was called to the scene to remove the car from the beach.

The car was initially too far away to be removed, and had to be dragged closer to the wall to allow it to be lifted by a recovery vehicle.
