Abersoch RNLI has issued a warning to people to check weather conditions and wear lifejackets following the rescue of two people on Friday.

The RNLI received reports of a rib in difficulty off Llanbedrog headland just after 2pm on Friday.

HM Coastguard alerted Abersoch RNLI of a small rib drifting out of sight.

The Peter and Ann Setten Atlantic 85 lifeboat launched at 2.20pm.

On arrival at the scene a small inflatable with two people on board was found on Warren beach, east of Llanbedrog headland.

The small vessel had departed from Pwllheli and was unable to make any headway on its return due to the wind strength, choppy sea state and moderate swell.

The casualties, one adult male and one teenage male, were wearing wet suits and also carrying a mobile phone.

No lifejackets were on board.

HM Coastguard dealt with the casualties on shore.

Abersoch RNLI lifeboat operations manager, Andy Vowell, said: "It is essential that you always check the weather conditions and tide times before heading out and ensure that your vessel is suitable for the conditions.

"Lifejackets should be worn at all times."
