A CONTROLLED explosion was carried out at Ynyslas yesterday (Saturday), the local Coastguard has said.
Reporting on the incident on their Facebook page, HM Coastguard Borth said: "On Friday we were tasked to suspected ordinance at Ynyslas. The team were requested by EODU to watch the item until they could attend on Saturday morning.
"The Borth team members with help from the Aberystwyth team remained on site overnight, until EODU [Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit] arrived at 0930.
"Much coffee and many biscuits were consumed. EODU completed a controlled explosion of the item at around 1030."
