VOLUNTEERS from Abersoch RNLI were called out to rescue a motorboat crew for a second time in nine days.

On Saturday, 2 April at 6.40pm Abersoch RNLI volunteers launched the Peter and Ann Setten, was launched to the aid of a broken down motorboat with three men on board at Porth Neigwl.

Holyhead Coastguard was able to confirm, that it was the same vessel the Abersoch RNLI volunteers had escorted to safety from the Aberdaron area nine days before.

According to locals, the boat restarted its passage to Liverpool after 2.30pm that afternoon.

The swelling sea in Porth Neigwl and the gradually diminishing light made searching a difficult task for the crew who persevered until spotting it at 7.30pm.

They found the vessel, which had made an unsuccessful attempt to anchor, drifting 200 yards off the rocks at Trwyn Talfarach at the western end of Porth Neigwl.

An RNLI crew member boarded the 33ft wooden craft, a line was attached and a tow was initiated.

The boat was taken to Pwllheli Marina and Holyhead Coastguard called Pwllheli RNLI’s all-weather lifeboat to assist.
