A DISGUSTED Porthmadog councillor is set on ‘reclaiming the park for the kids’ after drug users set up base there.
In May, the Cambrian News revealed the shocking news that a boy, under the age of 10, picked up an used syringe home from Pensyflog Park, after mistaking it for a toy.
The youngster also found a grinder, a device used to break cannabis up so it can be smoked, which he took to his aghast grandmother who immediately reported the find to the police.
The cache of drug items sparked fear over growing drugs use across Porthmadog, which is still ongoing, and now a Gwynedd councillor is fighting back.
Nia Jeffreys, who also sits on Gwynedd Council’s Cabinet, said it was a “disgrace” that drug users were abusing an area designated for children.
PCSO Mark Hughes was also keen to contain the problem.
“Myself and Nia are just trying to put some preventative work together with the residents of Pensyflog to see if they can make the park a safer and nicer place to be where the kids can play in,” he said.
