HERE are some of the first pictures of murdered grandmother of seven, Tracy Cockrell, who was found dead at a remote property near Machynlleth on Sunday.

Police are treating the 51-year-old’s death as murder.

The body of a 45-year-old man was found in the grounds of the property, at Gelli in Cwm Ffrydlan, just outside Llanwrin.

Police say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the murder.

Tracy only moved from Rotherham to mid Wales in December and worked at Cartref Dyfi Bupa care home in Machynlleth.

As well as seven grandchildren, she leaves behind four children, four sisters and a brother.

These pictures are from Tracy’s Facebook page where tributes were being paid.

Her son Gaz Johnson of Leeds, said he was “in bits” at hearing the news.

Kye Dunhill said Tracy was “a good mate and we had lots of good times” and her “thoughts are with the family at this sad time.”

Friend Linda Heseltine said: “We had so much fun when we were kids. I will never forget you. Thinking of all the family.”

Tributes were also paid by shocked locals.

Villager Bill Owen said that the couple were not well known in the village, but that the incident was “sad”.

Mr Owen, who has lived in the village all his life, said: “Before, everyone knew everyone - it’s not so much like that any more.

“Of course it’s very sad that things like this happen around here. The couple weren’t from around here and moved to Gelli a couple of years ago. Gelli is remote, so we in the village wouldn’t have seen or heard anything.”

Rev Kathleen Rogers, the Minister in charge of Llanwrin church said the incident was a “terrible, terrible situation” for villagers.

“I was in Llanwrin last night for a church meeting and that’s when I found out,” Rev Rogers said.

“Not many people knew about it, but it’s a terrible, terrible situation.

“It’s just an awful thing to have happened. Myself and the church will be there to support anyone who needs it.”

Glantwymyn community and county councillor Gwilym Vaughan, who lives in the neighbouring village of Abercegir, said the incident was a “complete shock” to the community.

“We don’t get things like this happening around here, so it’s a massive shock,” he said. “Not many people seem to know them, but it doesn’t make it any better.

“It’s very close to home and is just a terrible thing. People are shocked at this, but will rally around.”

Police officers were called to the remote property on Sunday following reports of the sudden death of a 51-year-old woman.

Officers arrived on scene at around 3.50pm and, during a subsequent search of the eight acre grounds of the property, the body of a man was also found.

A Dyfed-Powys Police spokeswoman said: “An investigation has commenced to establish the facts concerning both deaths.

“Dyfed-Powys Police are continuing to investigate the deaths of two people at a property on the outskirts of Machynlleth,” the spokesperson said.

“We are now treating the death of a 51-year-old female as murder, but at this time are not looking for anyone else in connection with the death.”
