Fire crews received over 170 flooding calls last night and attended over 80 incidents as heavy rain swept across Wales.
Rain was heavy over much of west Wales, with counties in the south bearing the brunt of the deluge as Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said they received a high volume of calls, mainly from the Swansea, Neath and Carmarthenshire area.
The calls varied from external and dwelling flooding, to vehicles stuck in flood water.
The fire service confirmed: “Joint Fire Control received over 170 flooding calls last night and Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service attended over 80 flood-related incidents in the Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Carmarthenshire, including over 40 incidents where flood water had entered property.
“Crews, working in challenging conditions, were involved in pumping water from affected premises and worked closely with partner agencies including local authorities and Natural Resources Wales to provide a response to these incidents.
“MAWWFRS would advise motorists to plan their journeys ahead during adverse weather conditions and to find alternative routes to avoid areas affected by flood water.”
A few showers are expected to continue through this evening across much of Wales, however it will become largely dry overnight with clear periods.
Winds will slowly ease too and it will turn chilly, with a touch of grass frost possible in more rural areas. A minimum temperature of 3°C is expected.
