Fire crews are appealing for people not to start unnecessary fires after a controlled blaze got out of control on the Llyn.
Around 25,000 square metres of land was burnt on Thursday, 16 April near Y Rhiw on the Llyn Peninsula after a controlled fire got out of control.
The crews tackled the fire in Thursday evening, the fire crews from Pwllheli and Abersoch returned on Friday morning and remained in attendance at the scene until 3.53pm.
The fire has affected around 25,000 square metre of gorse and bracken. The fire service believe that the fire was initially a controlled fire but burnt out of control.
In a video posted on the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service Facebook page, crew manager Jeff Hall said: “This is believed to be a controlled burn which was not controlled, once again, which has now placed our crews at risk.
“Not only from the issues surrounding working in terrain like this but also bringing our crews together in times of Covid-19 which, where possible, we are restricting for obvious reasons.
“Please, please do not burn unnecessarily in these times and think about your actions and unintended consequences. Thank you very much, stay safe.”
