A BALA restaurant owner has been ordered to pay fines and costs totalling £3,220 after pleading guilty to 22 charges of breaching food safety requirements.
Maseoud Anafcheh, 56, who runs the Cwrt, at 62 High Street, pleaded guilty to 18 charges of selling food after the use-by date.
These included: Greek yoghurt that was 61 days over the date, natural yoghurt which was 133 days over the use-by date, ricotta cheese which was 105 days over, Bavarian smoked cheese 36 days over the limit, sheep cheese 156 days over, puff pastry 97 days over, mascarpone 40 days over, brie 80 days over, Cornish clotted cream 78 days over, double cream 23 days over, smoked salmon 40 days over, tzatziki 10 days over and brisket pastrami 54 days over its sell-by date.
Anafcheh also pleaded guilty to having food unfit for human consumption, namely a steak sauce that was mouldy.
All the offences were discovered by public health staff when they inspected the Cwrt on 26 March 2015.
He also pleaded guilty to failing to comply with hygiene improvement notices issued on 13 April 2014 and also to two charges relating to 17 September when ice cream mix and yoghurt were available for sale having been opened over three days previously, contrary to health food regulations.
