THE future of Machynlleth Police Station is secure, Dyfed-Powys’ Police and Crime Commissioner has said.
Commissioner Dafydd Llywelyn has said he wants to retain a police station in Machynlleth, despite admitting the current location is not ideal.
But he said it was too early to say whether plans for a joint station with the ambulance and fire service could be brought to fruition and if there was funding to pay for it.
Mr Llewellyn told Machynlleth town councillors that the future of the station in the town was vital to help build good links between officers and the local community.

Mr Llywelyn said he was also keen to see the return of CCTV across the Dyfed-Powys force area, but said he was waiting for a project team to identify suitable locations and couldn’t issue a guarantee that Machynlleth would be one of the areas selected.
Councillors said they were pleased that Machynlleth would retain a police station, but admitted they would support any plan to try and relocate a station closer to the centre of town.
