Police have searched three homes in Aberystwyth for illegal substances in the past week, with heroin, cannabis and tablets seized.

Warrants were carried out in Queen Street and Penparcau on Wednesday, 3 June and Thursday, 4 June, by Dyfed-Powys Police, while stop searches took place in the town centre.

Acting on intelligence, response officers entered a flat in Queen Street, where they found more than 200 Xanax tablets, herbal cannabis, and £500 in cash.

The occupant, a 22-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.

She has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

The following day, two warrants were carried out in Penparcau, with support from the neighbourhood policing team, response officers, neighbourhood tasking unit and dog section.

At the first address, a small amount of a substance believed to be heroin was found, along with cannabis, subutex, diazepam and drug-related paraphernalia.

Several quantities of cannabis were seized from the second address, as well as some Xanax tablets and one MDMA tablet, with the three occupants remaining under investigation at this time.

Sergeant Adam Foale said: “Excellent work was carried out during both of the search warrants, particularly by Police Dog Monty and his handler, PC Ryan Llewellyn.

“Monty indicated the location of almost all of the exhibits, ensuring that no stone was left un-turned and no drugs were left at the addresses.”

Prior to the warrants, officers had carried out plain clothed foot patrols, stop searching several people in the town centre. These resulted in intelligence logs being submitted regarding suspicious activity.
