BUSINESSES across Gwynedd are being duped by fake Scottish bank notes, police have warned.

North Wales Police is urging local businesses and residents to be on the look out for counterfeit cash following a spate of fake bank notes being used.

Fake £50 notes are currently circulating Dwyfor and Meirionnydd and anyone dealing with a £50 note, especially a Scottish note, is urged to show due caution.

A spokesperson for North Wales police stated: “Please be aware of counterfeit Scottish £50 notes that are being circulated in the Gwynedd South area.

“Offenders are tendering them for small value purchases.

“If any attempt is made please call 999 immediately.”
