ABERYSTWYTH’S lifeboat and coastguard crews were called out in the the early hours of this morning to investigate a mysterious orange glow near Constitution Hill.

Both of Aberystwyth RNLI’s lifeboats were launched at around midnight following reports of an orange glow north of Constitution Hill.

A spokesperson for Aberystwyth Lifeboat said: “Coastguard units had searched the beach and requested the lifeboats search along the cliffs due to the tide.

“After a thorough search for over an hour in and around the rocks and two parachute flares providing illumination, all units were stood down with nothing found.

“False alarm with good intent. If you’re ever in doubt, call it in.”
