Each year, Dyfed-Powys Police recognises and celebrates deserving and eligible staff with a long-service award.

This year the event took place at the force’s headquarters near Carmarthen on Wednesday, 18 December, and family and friends were invited to attend the ceremony to see officers and staff receive medals, certificates and badges.

The long-service medal is presented by Royal Warrant to police officers who have completed 20 years’ service in recognition of their exemplary service to the public.

Police staff are presented with long-service certificates and badges in recognition of their dedication and commitment following 20 years’ service.

This year’s medals and certificates were presented by Sara Edwards, the Lord Lieutenant of Dyfed and Tia Jones, the Lord Lieutenant of Powys.

Chief Constable Mark Collins said: “The police service is a true vocation and the achievement of all the award recipients is a reminder of their hard work, commitment and dedication in safeguarding our communities, for which I would like to extend my sincere appreciation on behalf of the communities of Dyfed and Powys.

“It was a privilege to witness the officers and staff receive their awards. Furthermore, I am well aware of the tremendous support given to officers and staff by family and friends and I am grateful to you all for your patience, understanding and ever present support.

Among the officers recognised at the ceremony were police staff based in Ceredigion and Powys: DC Patrick Lawlor, DC Kelly Williams and Temp Insp Matthew Howells, all of Ceredigion; and Det Sgt Paula Rutherford, PC Malcolm Matthews, DC Alison Fletcher and DC Sarah Ross, all of Powys.
