Police have launched an appeal after a fire was started in the public toilets next to the castle in Aberystwyth.
Officers are appealing for information after a fire was started in the public toilets near the castle park just before 2pm on Monday, 2 November.
It is unclear how much damage was caused to the Ceredigion County Council-run toilets but the facility was closed to the public on Tuesday morning.
Firefighters from Aberystwyth attended the call at 1.55pm on Monday.
A spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue said: “Firefighters extinguished the fire using a breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera and ventilated the property using a positive pressure ventilation fan.
“The fire service handed the incident to the police at 2.31pm.”
A spokesperson for Ceredigion County Council said: "We can confirm that someone started a fire in the toilets on Monday and as a consequence the toilets are now shut to the public whilst the damage is assessed and repaired.
"It is particularly disappointing at the current time that resources now need to be diverted to this."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Dyfed-Powys Police on 101.
