Police are appealing for information following the death of a 74-year-old man who was involved in a crash on Friday night.

North Wales Police launched the appeal this afternoon, following the death of local man Eric Bergqgvist.

A spokesperson for NWP Roads Policing Unit said: “We can confirm that the road traffic collision that occurred on the A499 near Gyrn Goch just at 6.45pm on Friday, 19 February, is being investigated as a fatal collision.

“Despite the best efforts of the first people at the scene and paramedics, sadly 74-year-old local man Eric Bergqgvist was pronounced dead at the scene."

Sgt Raymond Williams from the Roads Policing Unit is leading the investigation.

He added: “We would like to offer our profound condolences to the family at this difficult time.

“We are appealing for witnesses and I am encouraging anyone who can remember travelling between Trefor and Gyrn Goch between 6.15pm and 6.45pm and who may have noticed a grey coloured Honda 4x4 with hazard warning lights between Gyrn Goch and Trefor to contact us via the live webchat or phone 101 by quoting reference 21000110023.”
