A QUAD biker has lost his life following a road collision on the Llyn Peninsula.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident near Llanbedrog on Sunday evening.

Shortly after 7pm North Wales Police received a report by the ambulance service of a one-vehicle collision, involving a quad bike, on the B4413 between Llanbedrog and Mynytho.

The rider was airlifted to hospital in Stoke by the air ambulance but later died as a result of his injuries.

His next of kin have been informed.

Sergeant Meurig Jones of the Roads Policing Unit said: “Sadly, this is now being treated as a fatal road traffic collision and our thoughts remain with the man’s family.

“We are appealing to anybody who may have witnessed the collision, or anybody who may have seen the quad bike travelling along the B4413 prior to the collision to come forward.”

The road was closed to allow officers to carry out their initial enquiries and reopened shortly after midnight.

Anybody with information is asked to contact officers at the Western Roads Policing Unit on 101 quoting reference number W034152.

A spokesperson for the Welsh Ambulance Service added: “We were called at approximately 7.05pm on Sunday, 18 March, to reports of a road traffic collision on the B4413 near the Ship Inn in Llanbedrog.

“We sent a crew in an emergency ambulance, a paramedic in a rapid response vehicle, medics from the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service in Wales in a car, and a search and rescue helicopter.

“One man was airlifted to the Royal Stoke University Hospital in a serious condition.”

Abersoch Coastguard Rescue Team were also called out to help prepare a landing site for the air ambulance.
