HEROIC beach wardens in Barmouth have been hailed for saving the life of a man, in the same incident in which two boys were lost.

Following the devastating news that two teenagers have been lost at sea after getting into difficulties on Sunday afternoon, it has emerged that a third member of the coach party might have suffered a similar fate if not for the swift actions of the on-duty wardens.

After hearing of three people in distress at 1.40pm, beach officers were quick to the scene to offer assistance, and were able to rescue a man from the waters.

Gwynedd Council maritime and country parks officer Barry Davies said the wardens performed admirably.
