A “PROLIFIC” criminal has ended up behind bars after burgling two homes in Barmouth.

On Friday, Lee Jamie Clarkson, 30, from Barmouth, appeared before Caernarfon Crown Court and was jailed for 20 months after pleading guilty to two residential burglaries carried out in his hometown in September 2016.

DC Gareth Jones of Gwynedd CID said: “When an individual commits a domestic burglary, invades your home and steals property, it is not uncommon for victims to feel violated.

“It is therefore reassuring and welcoming that the Criminal Justice System shares our concern and imposes custodial sentences on those intent on disrupting and disregarding the lives of others.

“Following the crimes being reported, investigating officers arrested Clarkson and, faced with overwhelming evidence, he pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity.

“Clarkson is a prolific offender and I hope this provides the community with reassurance that offenders who commit this type of crime will be pursued, caught and placed before the courts.

“Fortunately, crimes of this nature are rare in the area and, together with our local communities, we must ensure it stays so.

“However, we can’t do this alone and it is worth reminding householders to ensure that your property is locked and if you see anything suspicious contact us immediately.”
