Aberdyfi Search and Rescue Team were called out to help an injured walker on Cader Idris yesterday evening.
A 30-year-old woman, one of a party of four hill-walkers, had gone over on her ankle whilst descending the Foxes path below Llyn y Gadair.
With the woman unable to load-bear on the injured limb, the party called for assistance at around 5.30pm.
A party of four rescue team volunteers was dispatched with pain relief and first aid equipment.
Given the nature of the terrain and location, a request was made for helicopter assistance from Coastguard R936.
Further team members were held back at Ty Nant as the helicopter made initial approaches to the site.
Although the casualty was located on a steep section of the path, the helicopter was able to land a short distance away.
The injured woman was treated at the scene, then assisted by team members to the aircraft and flown down to Ty Nant.
The remaining party were escorted off the hill by rescue team volunteers, and the casualty was driven by friends to Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth for further assessment and treatment.
Everyone was safely off the hill just after 8pm.
