A FRENZIED flurry of snow rendered a key road in Meirionnydd impassable on Thursday evening.

Motorists travelling on the A470 between Dinas Mawddwy and junction with A487 Cross Foxes were caught out after a quick blizzard left many of vehicles on the road struggle with the treacherous conditions.

Several vehicles became stuck and had to be manually pushed up icy gradients to continue on their journey.

The road was closed for two hours between 5.30pm and 7.30pm on Thursday 12 January as gritters made their way to the scene to clear the way.

The inclement weather caused delays throughout the area but the road was eventually cleared and then reopened.
