A TREASURED pet was rescued by mountain rescue teams after she fell into a gorge whilst out walking on Tuesday.

Jess, a two-year-old bearded collie, was trapped after finding her way in to the crevasse at Pont y Pandy between Blaenau and Llan Ffestiniog.

Her worried owner Gwilym called for assistance and was soon joined on the scene by volunteers from the South Snowdonia Search and Rescue Team.

Team member Martin Davies was quickly dropped into the gorge after rigging up a rope system where he managed to save the petrified pup.

After Jess’ safe retrieval, a representative of the rescue team said: “She was wet and a bit shaken but happy to be reunited with her grateful owner Gwilym, well done to everyone involved in the rescue.”
