Criccieth RNLI responded to two calls in one day yesterday.
The first came at 10.40am.
The crew were out on a planned exercise aboard their Atlantic 85-class lifeboat, Doris Joan.
A personal-location-beacon had sent a mayday distress call from a yacht in the area.
The crew made its way towards the beacons’ signal and discovered it had been unintentionally set off by a lone sailor who was not in need of assistance.
Once the crew was satisfied all was well, they continued with their exercise.
At 4.20pm they were paged again, tasked by HM Coastguard following reports of a broken-down waterski near Criccieth Castle. Once launched, the crew approached what was believed to be the stricken vessel, only to discover that the reported waterski’s rider had managed to restart the engine and make their way to Black Rock Sands.
The lifeboat crew followed the reported waterski’s path towards the beach to make sure everyone was safe and well.
The crew then headed back to Criccieth lifeboat station.
