THIS is what remains of an RAF helicopter that burst into flames after being forced into an emergency landing in Snowdonia yesterday afternoon.

The RAF helicopter, with four people on board, had to perform an emergency landing on Yr Aran after suffering technical problems.

All four members of the unhurt air crew were recovered by the North Wales Air Ambulance, who happened to be passing in the area.

Walker, Huw Price, reported seeing huge flames from where the helicopter landed.

A number of emergency services including firefighters, police, coastguard and mountain rescue teams, have been sent to Watkin Path in Llanberis which leads to the summit.

A Ministry of Defence spokesperson said: “The Griffin training helicopter safely completed a precautionary landing in Snowdonia following a technical issue.

“All four people on board exited safety, subsequently the aircraft caught fire."
