POLICE are investigating after vandals caused “thousands of pounds worth” of damage to the front of an Aberystwyth business.
Nick Davidson, the manager of the Phoneline on Owain Glyndwr Square, shared CCTV footage from around the time of the early-hours incident over the weekend, which was later taken down “due to the overwhelming response”.
The footage showed two men outside the store at just before 4am.
Mr Davidson told the Cambrian News that the reinforced window at the front of the shop was “hacked at with an axe” in an “attempted break-in”.
“This kind of thing has never happened before but we are open and getting on with it,” he said.
“We’ve had the police round. It will cost a few grand to fix.”
He thanked everyone for sharing his posts on social media and hoped the culprits would be caught.
A police spokesperson said: “Sometime on Saturday, 23 April, a shop window on a property in North Parade, Aberystwyth was damaged.
“Police are investigating the incident and anyone with information is asked to contact Aberystwyth Police on 101.”
