ELLEN Bretland, of Lampeter, is convinced the quick-thinking of St John Ambulance volunteer Emma Wood saved her from a possibly fatal heart attack.

Ellen 65, was attending the Camfan charity’s drop-in centre in the town when she began to feel unwell.

Camfan volunteer Emma, a member of the Lampeter division of St John Ambulance, insisted she went to the town’s doctor’s surgery.

Having subsequently been taken by ambulance to Bronglais Hospital, Ellen was told she would probably have suffered a heart attack had it not been for Emma’s swift intervention.
