AN ABERYSTWYTH restaurateur is appealing for help in finding a man who smashed his restaurant window last night (Tuesday).

Gareth James, owner of Irie’s restaurant and cocktail bar on Northgate Street, released CCTV footage which shows two men walking past the restaurant at around 12.35am in the direction of Penglais Hill, one of whom then appears to strike a window before both carry on walking.

Speaking to the Cambrian News, Mr James said police followed a trail of blood from the window for about 400 yards up the road, before it abruptly stopped.

Mr James added: “I would like the money back please and I won’t take it any further.

“This guy could end up with a criminal record, he could have killed himself, and if he is studying, these things can affect you later in life.

“I don’t think he’s a bad person, it is a textbook moment of madness.”
