A LLANBADARN Fawr woman has been jailed for a year after threatening a supermarket manager who banned her from the store with blackmail.

Swansea Crown Court heard last week that Gaynor Williams, of 2 Pendre Cottages, contacted Aberystwyth Morrisons store manager Steven Evans via Facebook making threats to disclose personal information to his employer unless he paid her money between 3 and 27 January this year.

It followed an earlier incident last May where Williams, 55, was convicted of assault in December last year at Aberystwyth Magistrates’ Court after pushing Mr Evans in the chest during an argument after Mr Evans asked her to leave the supermarket.

Mr Evans had previously banned Williams from the store, the court heard.

The court heard that Mr Evans received a message from Williams via Facebook Messenger on 4 January which said she hoped he would “get coronavirus and die.”

Later messages were sent where Williams attempted to blackmail Mr Evans with personal information, making threats and demands for money.

Mr Evans reported the messages to the police.

The court heard that Williams has been an alcoholic for 20 years and realised she needed help with her alcohol problems.

At the sentencing hearing at Swansea Crown Court, Williams was jailed for 12 months.

She was also made the subject of a 10 year restraining order banning her from contacting Mr Evans or mentioning him on social media, and also from entering the Morrisons store in Aberystwyth.
