A WOMAN had to be hauled 120 feet up a steep incline after breaking her ankle in the middle of a forest.
South Snowdonia Search & Rescue Team performed the technical rescue on Sunday afternoon, 25 March, after it became clear the woman was unable to walk.
The search and rescue team had been covering the Harlech Triathlon that day but as the event was coming to a close, the team were alerted by North Wales Police to a lady who had taken a tumble at the bottom of the waterfalls in Coed-y-Brenin forest and sustained a suspected broken ankle, as well as other injuries.
The team made their way to the site in two vehicles and quickly assessed the scene.
The only way to extract the casualty was by means of a ‘dual raise’, a five to one pully system.
The casualty was pulled up the 120 feet to the rigging team and then transferred down by the team Land Rover to a waiting ambulance which in turn, took her to Ysbyty Gwynedd.
The team wished the casualty a speedy recovery.
