I’m writing to you to share a poem my brother wrote about his shortened season in New Quay through this difficult time.
And so August passes,
Our sun sulks to horizons crest.
A still wind day, Dolphins.
Stunning. The best.
A season of change,
A town of seasonal tradition.
Yells from the anglers,
‘I’ve got a fish on’
The day draws to a close,
A yellow moon rises.
Gift shop staff serve us
Behind masks and visors.
We’ve all made the best
Of this weird, shortened season.
To keep this towns heart beating;
There’s no better reason.
We ease ourselves now,
Into September’s embrace.
Braced firm and ready
For new challenges to face.
Look to each other,
For thanks, cheer and praise.
To the great town of New Quay,
And the very best of days.
